Nite Jewel – “In The Dark”
Smooth and cool, Nite Jewel’s hypnotic take on electronic R&B is a really rewarding listen. Her music is mysterious, yet accessible, like if Air lived in Los Angeles instead of France. There’s a great deal of warmth that comes across on record, especially on the slow jam “In The Dark”. On the other hand, “She’s Always Watching You” is like a hit pop song twisted in an experimental soundscape. She’s kind of all over the place and I like it. While experimentation can pay off to great results, there are some parts of Nite Jewel’s music that fall a little flat, but the sum is still worth noting. She’ll be at SXSW in support of her sophomore release One Second of Love due on March 6th.
